A blaze involving six cars in an NCP car park in Nottingham city centre has blocked roads this afternoon.

The fire, which has now been put out, broke out in the car park on Stoney Street and has blocked the road in the Lace Market area – the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter.

A statement from Nottinghamshire Police said: “We are assiting Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue after a report that six cars are alight in the NCP car park, Lace Market. There is a cordon in place and no access to car park at this time. Residents in the block of flats behind the car park are advised to keep their windows closed.”

A spokesperson for NCP said the fire is now out.

It is the second blaze to hit the car park in 12 months.
