Furniture store to expand East Midlands presence

Danish-owned furniture store group JYSK is set to expand its presence in Lincoln after moving from the St Marks Retail Par.

JYSK is set to open a purpose-built store on Deacon Road, near the Carlton Centre and a new Lidl supermarket in Spring 2019.

David Ashton, country manager for JYSK, said: “As soon as we became aware that our existing Lincoln location was up for redevelopment we set ourselves on a mission to find a new one – for us leaving this city was simply not an option.

“It is a fresh start for JYSK in the city, and we will completely update the look and feel of the store.”

Lincoln’s new JYSK will be a “Concept 3.0” store, which offer “room set inspirations and aspirational product groupings”. Products are arranged by colour as well as type.

Lincoln, and a new Concept 3.0 store for Derby early in the New Year, follow Doncaster as the first new format stores roll out throughout 2019 – as the company celebrates its 40th birthday.

JYSK delivered a strong finish to a financial year marked out by consistent month-on-month growth and like-for-like sales 21.5% up.

All of the Lincoln store’s staff will relocate to the new store.
