Four jobs go at Leicester law firm

Outgoing chief executive Andy Raynor

Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has closed its Marrons planning office on Meridian Park in Leicester and moved staff to its Colton Square office.

The company now employs 118 people in its Colton Square premises.

As we reported earlier this year, some 60 jobs were under threat at Shakespeare Martineau as the company announced it was shutting two of its offices as part of a restructuring process.

The Leicester Mercury says that four people were made redundant in Leicester, including two who decided not to relocate to Colton Square in the city centre.

In May, Andy Raynor, chief executive, said: “We realise that this is difficult news for the individuals involved, especially during a period of continuing success. We are doing everything we can to support them, and where possible will find alternative roles for them within the firm. Our strategic direction and associated investment is clearly set out and by making these changes now, the main board and partners will be creating a platform for the firm’s further growth in the future.

“As we announced some months ago, I am leaving the firm later this year and in my remaining time with the firm I will continue to vigorously pursue our plans. With the proven leadership structures that are in place, I am certain the business is in a strong position to deliver all its strategic plans for growth.”

The company was slated to shut its Manchester serviced office.
