Leicester plumbing firm expands with acquisition and new opening

Pochin’s Newark team Jake Steptoe, Alex Rothery and Darren Parke

Leicester-based leading independent plumbing and heating supplier Pochin has opened a new outlet in Newark and bought a business in Cannock.

The deals gives Pochin a total of 16 trade outlets in seven counties and will help drive the company’s turnover above £29m this year – more than doubling revenue in the last five years.

The Newark branch has been opened at Glenholm Park, creating three new jobs. In Cannock, Pochin has acquired Mike Lodge Plumbing and Heating which has seven staff.

The additions take Pochin’s staff across its trade and retail arms to 123.

The 157-year-old company is headquartered at Murrayfield Road in Leicester and also has consumer bathroom and AGA showrooms in six locations.

Pochin’s managing director David Pochin said: “We are pleased to be bringing Pochin ethos of great service to new markets in Newark and Cannock.

“The teams at all of our trade counters are driven by providing heating and plumbing installers with the tools and products they need at great prices.

“When in 2014 we started acquiring existing businesses and opening outlets in new markets we believed the Pochin approach would develop a larger customer base in a wider footprint. That’s what happened and why we continue to expand when the opportunity is right.”

The Newark branch is led by sales manager Darren Parker, supported by assistant manager Jake Steptoe and Alex Rothery. All are new to Pochin and have a combined 27 years’ experience in the plumbing and heating industry.

The Cannock trade outlet is retaining its branding as Mike Lodge Plumbing and Heating. It is being managed by Craig Kesterton, who was in charge of Pochin’s Stourbridge outlet.
