Logged-off: Chris Holt, EKV Design

Chris Holt

We ask the busy business development manager at multi-disciplinary consultancy EKV Design how he unwinds after a week at work.

How do you relax at the weekend?

Relax? I wish I could.

Alongside my business development work at EKV, I also work for Derby County Football Club . Whether it be making announcements on the microphone or coordinating the events match day team, it keeps me pretty busy. I’m also a qualified FA coach and I run a local U11s club, Barrow Badgers FC.

If I’m not doing either of those, you will find me and my two children setting off in our motor home to watch live music at a festival.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?

With both of my jobs, I easily work 10 hours but I do supplement those with quality family time and walking my Labrador Charlie.

What is your favourite…

Holiday destination? I’m lucky enough to have a family Villa in Dalaman, Turkey which is a gorgeous part of the world.

With my previous roles in professional sport and event management I travelled a lot, so I would have to say Miami or Majorca. Miami for its nightlife and amazing sports culture and Majorca, especially Puerto Pollensa, for its beautiful people; such a lovely island and environment to work in.

Book? This is a toughie as I tend not to read a lot but if I had to take one book to a desert Island it would probably be, “Ripley’s Believe It or Not”. I am fascinated by quirky things and paranormal sceptisms.

Album? I love my music and festivals play a big part in my life. My favourite album would be a 90s Indie Anthems Compilation Album. I was a local DJ in the 90s and this genre of music was my influence (along with early rave). Anything by Oasis, The Charlatans or the Stone Roses would satisfy my album choice.

Food? Favourite food would have to be Chinese but I do have a crazy addiction to chocolate coated peanuts!

TV programme? I’m not a mad TV watcher but when it is switched on I tend to watch trash TV on MTV like “Ex on the Beach” or “Are you the One?” as life is too serious sometimes and we all need cheesy TV to escape from time to time, don’t we?

Website or app? My favourite app has to be Twitter as I love to see my fellow Derby County fans mickey taking Nottingham Forest Fans after defeats! As for websites, I am a bit of an eBay nut. I love to collect retro sports hoodies and vests from the NBA and BBL. I worked in professional basketball for many years so it was a big part of my life.

How do you usually spend Sunday evenings?

Sunday evenings I’m normally at the gym with one of my best friends, Kirbs, putting the world right of all its wrongs, someone has to!
