Mansfield Brewery site redevelopment plans get green light

Wise living wants to build more BTR homes

Seventy-five new high quality rental homes are set to be built on the former Mansfield Brewery site.

The four-acre brownfield site will provide homes for 75 households, after Mansfield District Council gave the go-ahead to the plans.T he former Brewery land, was acquired earlier this year by Wise Living, a venture financed by specialist asset manager ICG-Longbow, working alongside Nottingham-based SDL Group.

The site has been vacant since the brewery closed in 2002, with the buildings on the site were bulldozed and cleared in 2008.

Wise Living now plans to build a scheme that will include 12 one bedroom, 21 two-bedroom, 40 three-bedroom and two four bedroom detached and semi-detached family homes.

Construction is set to commence in the autumn, with the first homes expected to be available to rent in the summer of 2019.

Kate Allsop, Executive Mayor of Mansfield District Council said: “The new Wise Living scheme is good news for the people of Mansfield. The proposed development will enhance and integrate well with the character and appearance of the surrounding area and we are very pleased that this brownfield site which has been out of use for many years is to be transformed into muchneeded, high quality new rental housing.

“Wise Living’s plans will play a major role in regenerating this part of the town and will contribute to the growing demand for rented housing in the town.”

Martin Wheeler, co-head of ICG-Longbow, said: “This site is a great example of the Wise Living strategy in action; the redevelopment of a site that has been vacant for over fifteen years with modern, high quality, accessibly priced housing, which will be available to rent to local families in little lessthan a year.”

Andy Deller, group strategy director at SDL Group, added: “We are delighted to have received unanimous support from Mansfield District Council for the scheme, which will give local people the opportunity to leave older rental houses and move into brand new, professionally-managed properties, all built to a high standard.

“This key site occupies a prime location close to the town centre and key local amenities and we expect a high level of interest in the homes when they become available next Spring.

“The new properties will be professionally managed by the SDL Group, which currently manages more than 35,000 homes.”
