Leicestershire pub sold in six-figure deal

A seventeenth-century pub in Leicestershire has been bought in a six-figure deal with help from HSBC UK.

The Greyhound Inn in Botcheston, Leicestershire, has been purchased by local brother and sister-in-law Robert and Hannah Beaumont. Robert in particular has a close connection to the pub, having lived in Botcheston for over forty years. As a result of the takeover, two full-time and thirteen part-time jobs have been created including bar staff, cleaners and chefs.

As well as supporting the initial purchase, the funding from HSBC UK has enabled the new owners to refurbish the interior of the pub’s 40-seat dining area and bar. The changes also include a new traditional skittle alley in the pub’s function suite, an upgraded outdoor play-area and new children’s menu to make the pub more family-friendly.

Joint managing directors, Robert and Hannah Beaumont have over forty years’ experience in the hospitality and catering industry, with Hannah purchasing her first pub in 2005.

She said: “The Greyhound Inn has always been a true family favourite, so Robert and I saw the acquisition as the perfect opportunity to further our passion for the hospitality industry and support the local community. We’re delighted that with the support of our HSBC UK relationship manager, Craig Jones, we’ve been able to purchase our dream business and elevate the pub’s offering with a new menu and facilities.”

David Tomlinson, HSBC UK’s area director for business banking in East Midlands, said: “HSBC UK is committed to helping businesses realise their ambitions. Robert and Hannah’s knowledge of the pub industry, as well as their commitment to the Botcheston community, will help The Greyhound Inn to thrive. We’re delighted to have supported them on this new venture and we wish them every success for the future.”

The Greyhound Inn has been part of the Botcheston community since 1863.
