Textile manufacturer in seven-figure Notts relocation

A specialist textile manufacturer and supplier in Nottinghamshire has moved into new headquarters after landing a seven-figure funding package from HSBC.

Established in 1996, Autofil Worldwide is a producer of polyester yarns for the automotive sector. The business has leased and refurbished a 10,650 sq ft premises in Huthwaite.

As part of the move, Autofil has established a research and design (R&D) facility, complete with a new £150,000 texturising machine. The firms say new machine will allow the business to react quicker to short notice orders for prototype yarns from customers across the globe.

Autofil exports 100% of its products to car and commercial vehicle seat fabric manufacturers across Europe. The business was previously based nearby in Nottingham and operates manufacturing sites in Bulgaria and Italy.

Mark Llewellyn, financial director of Autofil, said: “We operate in an extremely competitive global market so it is critical that we invest in R&D and our backroom operations. This is how we’ll remain a leader in our existing markets, as well as becoming a challenger in new markets such as North America. With HSBC UK’s financial backing we were able to invest in the right premises that gives us a platform for growth.”

Mark Watson, HSBC UK’s relationship director for corporate banking, said: “Autofil is a great example of the type of dynamic business we’re delighted to support. It is a highly specialist manufacturer that knows how to do business in a global market place and it is committed to developing innovative new products. We look forward to seeing the business flourish in its new home.”
