Police cordon in Lincoln city centre after suspect package found

Lincoln's bus station has been evacuated

A police cordon is in place around much of Lincoln city centre’s transport hub after suspect package was found on an incoming bus.

The incident is causing long delays for commuters in and out of Lincoln with the entrance to the railway station closed, the bus station on lock-down and motorists being asked to remove their cars from the adjacent Lincoln Central Car Park.

Lincoln City Council tweeted: “Due to the intended extension of the cordon around Lincoln Central bus station, can people parked in Lincoln Central car park please move their vehicle asap, as they will be unable to do so when the cordon is extended.”

Meanwhile, bus operator tweeted: “Major disruption to ALL services due to the closure of the Bus Station & surrounding area due to a major police incident, most of the city centre is on lock down, many roads are closed for the foreseeable future, we are doing our very best to operate services.”
