Loughborough energy firm appoints new CEO

David Woolhouse

Intelligent Energy, the Loughborough fuel cell engineering company, has appointed David Woolhouse as its new chief executive officer.

The move comes a year after Intelligent Energy was sold to Meditor Energy, one of its largest backers, for £19.5m.

Previously, the firm said that slower than expected sales meant it was looking at “an uncertain outlook”.

“David joins Intelligent Energy at a time of ongoing investment and continued commitment from Meditor,” said Talal Shakerchi, CEO of Meditor Capital Management. “As a proven business leader, David will be responsible for the strategic, financial and operational management of the company and its subsidiaries.”

Woolhouse said “I am proud to be joining the company at such an exciting time. As businesses look to adopt cleaner power alternatives, fuel cell technologies will play a key role and Intelligent Energy is well placed to lead this change. I look forward to starting a new chapter with the team, as we continue to take the business forward.”

He joins from Wabtec Rail, and has previously held managing director positions at Alstom and the Brush engineering group.
