Nottingham law firm sold in pre-pack deal

DBS Law, the Midlands law firm with offices in Nottingham and Birmingham and a major nationwide personal injury brand in Claim Today Solicitors, has been taken over by PKA Legal after completing a pre-pack administration.

The firm, which last year entered into a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA), decided to take the decision to enter into administration as the new personal injury claim reforms created an increasingly difficult financial situation with a drop in both the number and value of claims in the personal injury department, which made up the lion’s share of the firm’s work.

PKA Legal, headed by Parveen Attri, says it plans to keep continuity with the established brand names of DBS Law and Claim Today Solicitors, retaining the staff and brands as is, whilst also pushing forward other personal law products such as family law and residential property.

Attri said: “It was unfortunate to see a name like DBS Law Limited, and Claim Today Solicitors in particular, in a situation whereby this was the best outcome. The name is synonymous in many communities in providing excellent customer focussed service to some of the nation’s least represented in the legal field.”
