100 jobs at risk at Nottingham student discount firm, say reports

Josh Rathour, UNiDAYS

Nottingham-based student discount company UNiDAYS could axe up to 100 jobs, according to reports.

Nottinghamshire Live says the firm is undergoing a restructuring programme that could see one in three workers lose their roles.

UNiDAYS went through a huge recruitment drive last year, but bosses at the company say the boost in staff number hasn’t had the desired affect and confirmed that 50 jobs in Nottingham alone could go, along with others in its London, Sydney and New York offices.

Earlier this year, UNiDAYS, which can instantly verify students for retail brands using its technology, was named the 51st fastest-growing tech company in the UK in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table.

The firm was launched in 2011 by Josh Rathour. He told Nottinghamshire Live: “In 2017, we made the choice to grow our team rapidly. In the process, we realised our hiring didn’t achieve the results we had hoped.

“To take the business to the next phase of growth and ensure our continued success it was necessary to make some tough choices.”
