Law firm Roythornes Solicitors has bought Warrens Boyes & Archer, a long-standing Huntingdon legal practice.

As part of the deal, staff will move over from Warrens Boyes & Archer alongside lead partner, Greg Archer.

The 188 year-old firm will now become part of Roythornes after being established in London in 1830 and based in Huntingdon for more than 70 years.

Vember Mortlock, managing director at Roythornes Solicitors, said: “We’re delighted to announce this acquisition deal. Warrens Boyes & Archer has an impressive client base due to the strong relationships that Greg and his former partners have established as trusted advisors over many decades.

“He is very well-known in the local market and brings a wealth of experience and a longstanding client base including several large farming businesses, local schools and charities as well as private individuals. The synergies with our current client base are also excellent and there is a lot of potential to add further value as well as knowledge sharing.

“This acquisition forms part of the growth strategy for our Alconbury office as we continue to place much emphasis on personal connectivity with clients and sharing one ethos across all offices.”

Principal Greg Archer has been with Warrens Boyes & Archer for over 40 years and is planning to retire in the near future but will work from the Alconbury office as a consultant for the next five years.

He said: “Roythornes is a fantastic law firm with a great ethos and client-focused approach. I wanted to ensure my clients, many of which are longstanding and we have served for decades, are in good hands and therefore this is a perfect fit for us.

“Warrens Boyes & Archer as we know it will become part of the Roythornes brand with my team working out of Alconbury to ensure the smooth handover of clients and the continuation of our excellent service. This is also a very exciting time for many of the clients we work with as they will instantly gain access to a broader spectrum of services with a leading national practice.

“The office in Huntingdon was opened in 1940 when London was being bombed. The Boyes family moved lock, stock and barrel from their original base at The Temple in London to our current base in Hartford Road in Huntingdon. Over the years we have built up a strong local base whilst retaining our London connections”.
