Pharmacy doubles up after landing funding deal

Imran Khan (Carlton Pharmacies) with Asha D’Souza (Barclays)

A Staffordshire pharmacy business has bought the premises it was previously leasing along with a neighbouring property, following funding from Barclays.

Carlton Pharmacies, which is based on the Calais Road in Burton on Trent, has purchased the site along with a property next door on Wyggeston Street. The company has doubled the capacity of the pharmacy and retail business as well as undertaken an extensive refurbishment which has allowed them to set up an opticians’ service.

Director Imran Khan said: “When the opportunity arose to purchase our premises as well as next door, we jumped at the chance as it provided us with the opportunity to put our expansion plans into place without the need to move to another part of town. We aim to provide a comprehensive service to our customers locally which will be enhanced with the introduction of the opticians.”

Asha D’Souza, business manager at Barclays in Burton on Trent said: “I am delighted we have been able to support Imran and to help him realise his ambitions of growth for the business.”
