Beal Homes has has been given planning permission for a £60m residential development in Lincolnshire.

The housebuilder has gained reserved matters planning approval for a scheme of 350 homes in Welton, on the northern edge of Lincoln, which will be one of the company’s largest schemes to date.

The development will feature 263 open market properties and 15 affordable homes. The scheme will also include 72 specialist retirement homes developed by Lincoln-based Lace Housing, which provides housing support services for older people in Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.

Having been granted outline planning approval in 2015, Beal has now gained reserved matters consent from West Lindsey District Council for detailed plans, meaning the development can go ahead.

Beal chairman and managing director Richard Beal said: “We’re delighted to have been given the green light for this exciting development, which will be delivered over the next five to seven years.

“The scale of this scheme reflects our continuing growth and capability to deliver ever-larger developments, while retaining the family ethos and highly-personal service our customers value so much.

“The common element in all our schemes is that we build high-quality homes in developments that enhance local communities and where people love to live. Welton will be no exception.”

Chris Murphy, Beal Associate land director, said: “We’ve been working on this project for a number of years and we’re pleased that we will be moving into the construction phase early in the New Year.

“The location of this site is excellent, as it offers a tranquil rural location, but with great facilities close by and it’s just minutes from the cathedral city of Lincoln, which has fantastic shopping, bars, restaurants and other attractions. It all means residents will enjoy a superb quality of life.

“The development will cater for the full range of customers, from homes for first-time buyers to four bedroom family properties, and bungalows. We believe it will have very broad appeal.”

Beal is currently continuing the phased development of The Swale in Gainsborough. When completed, The Swale will feature 186 homes.

Beal also recently submitted updated plans for 112 homes on the site of the former Castle Hills Community College in Gainsborough. The development was originally given outline approval in 2016 and Beal has now submitted a detailed application for the scheme.
