New gym brings jobs to Notts village

A personal trainer has opened a gym and created jobs in the Nottinghamshire village of Keyworth.

Aspire 4 Fitness is a new venture for Matt Kirk-Ellis, who spent more than four years in the Royal Navy as a Royal Marine before becoming a personal trainer, based in Mansfield, for the past six years.

The new gym, located on the Keyworth Trading Estate, features personal trainer-led bootcamps and high-tech equipment, including Wattbikes, SkiErgs and Versaclimbers. It has also created one part-time and two full-time receptionist roles, as well as five self-employed personal trainers.

Kirk-Ellis, who opened Aspire 4 Fitness with support from a private investor, said: “I’m really excited to be bringing this new facility to the Keyworth community. The location offers a great opportunity as we will be the only standalone gym in the village.

“Having recently moved to the area from a town with a large number of fitness facilities, I felt there was something missing. I hope to provide a supportive, encouraging fitness facility with reasonable prices for the locals of Keyworth and the surrounding areas.”

He added: “Having worked in the health and fitness industry for many years I felt frustrated with the lack of support offered from large health clubs, leaving members feeling unnoticed and personal trainers working long hours.

“My vision was to open a gym ran by personal trainers and fitness enthusiasts who are passionate and motivated to help members in their journey.

“I hope that Aspire 4 Fitness will grow and develop in line with my original vision and will provide a fitness facility that the local community is proud to have and be part of.”

Riaz Dudhia, partner and head of the commercial property department at Nelsons led the transaction with support from solicitor Nicola Clarke.

Riaz said: “This is a really exciting time, not only for Matt and the team at Aspire 4 Fitness, but also for the local community. There was great scope to open a gym in Keyworth and optimise the lack of competition in the area.

“Once the opportunity presented itself, it was a perfect fit for Matt and his gym concept. It was a pleasure working with Matt and I am sure the business will be a great success. I look forward to seeing Aspire 4 Fitness thrive in the future.”

Sunny Landa, director at NG Chartered Surveyors, brokered the deal. He said: “This is fantastic news that has created jobs in Keyworth and it was a pleasure to work on the deal. I wish Matt all the best in what I’m sure will be a successful business.”
