Strike ‘on hold’ at print company as pay talks begin

Pay talks are taking place at a Nottinghamshire print company, the Unite union has confirmed.

Unite said its members, which had voted by 78 per cent for industrial action at Paragon Customer Communications (Nottingham) Ltd over pay, had now put plans for strike action ‘on hold’ while talks are continuing.

Unite says the management had originally offered no pay rise for the pay year starting November 2018, which they later upped to one per cent.

Unite regional officer Larry McGlinchey said: “We are pleased that constructive talks are now taking place with the management on pay issues.

“As a result, we have put our plans for strike action ‘on hold’ while these talks are progressing. Unite won’t be commenting further until these negotiations have concluded.”

Unite regional secretary for the East Midlands Paresh Patel said: “We are looking forward to a speedy resolution to this dispute, so we can move forward in a positive fashion with the company in the future, for the benefit of all.”

Unite represents about half the estimated 260-strong workforce at the site in Sutton-in-Ashfield
