Catering and retail supplies firm enters administration

A firm operating in the catering and retail sector has entered administration.

KPMG has been called into Shop-Equip, which was established in 1989 as catering and retail equipment and retail furniture supplier, and is based in Langwith on the Derbyshire/Nottighamshire border. The firm also manufacturers its own products.

A statement on Shop-Equip’s website reads: “Unfortunately, the current economic climate has taken another casualty. It is with the deepest regret that the long established Shop-Equip Limited has now been placed in administration.

“Should you have any difficulties with your commercial equipment, please contact the manufacturer wholesaler direct.”

In the company’s most recently-available results, a statement by Shop-Equip said: “2017 was a very challenging year with sales growth in excess of 39% but with a detrimental impact on margine alongside increased advertising spend resulted in only a small increase in profit before tax.

“The catering and commercial refrigeration equipment industry continues to be aggressively competitive with online resellers competing at low margins.”
