Council leader quits energy company

Jon Collins

Council-owned energy company Robin Hood Energy is looking for a new director after news that Nottingham City Council leader Jon Collins has stepped down.

Collins has said he is too busy with commitments surrounding the regeneration of the south side of the city, around the Broadmarsh area.

A join statement from Nottingham City Council and Robin Hood energy said: “Jon Collins has resigned as a director at Robin Hood Energy because he is busy with his regeneration portfolio at the council and his work to secure the development of the south side of the city.”

Launched in September 2015, Robin Hood Energy became the first local authority-owned, not for profit, energy company.

The company now has over 115,000 customers and has recently been independently valued at around £30m. It made a profit of £202,000 last year.
