New head for Loughborough High School

Dr Fiona Miles has been appointed as the new head of Loughborough High School.

Miles is the current senior deputy head at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls and will take up her appointment at the start of the Summer Term.

The appointment follows the planned departure of Gwen Byrom, who is due to leave at Christmas to take up the role of Founding Principal at the North London Collegiate School International, Bangkok.

Miles is an alumnus of Nottingham Girls’ High School and graduated in 1997 with Honours in English Literature from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. She was appointed as an English teacher at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls in North London, where she gained her teaching qualification and remained until her love of science took her back to university to study medicine at King’s College London, qualifying MBBS (Medicine) with Distinction in 2008. She then made the decision to return to teaching, going back to Haberdashers’ where she has progressed through a number of increasingly senior roles leading to her current post.

Loughborough High School was founded in 1850 and is one of four schools in the Loughborough Schools Foundation, alongside Loughborough Grammar School, Loughborough Amherst School and Fairfield Prep School.
