Social media firm reports best-ever year

Mark Saxby, right.

A Derby-based company says higher investment in social media has seen it record its best-ever year for turnover growth.

Cathedral Quarter company Status Social claims it has seen growth every month but one since November 2017.

On the back of this, the firm has created three new jobs in its social media management team.

Director Mark Saxby said it had been an “amazing year”, bolstered by working with companies such as national pet retail chain, Kennelgate, national surveyors Fisher German and Allison Baby, which owns leading nursery brands, Joie, Graco and Nuna.

“2018 has been the year when many businesses have finally started to take social media seriously,” said Saxby. “They’ve realised that paying a social media enthusiast a few pounds to run their channels is a waste of time – and that they need to put some serious investment into social media to achieve their business objectives.”

Saxby’s wife and fellow director, Kerry, said another breakthrough for Status Social was being able to report on significant sales being generated by their clients.

She said: “We’ve had one client tell us they’re generating £18,000 a month thanks to our training, another has made £54,000 in the last six months and a third sold 1200 products when our team created and managed their social media accounts.

“This year has also seen us work with Loughborough University, the international renowned Priory Clinic and asset finance bank, Close Brothers.”

Status Social, which began life in 2011, says it has also seen more clients asking for help to use social media to recruit and provide customer service.
