A new business support grant is set to help local companies achieve growth potential and create new jobs across Derbyshire, according to Derby City Council.

The Derbyshire Business Suphave already been received from local businesses who will use the funding to invest in expansion or relocation projects.

DBSGS is open to a wide range of business types including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and social enterprises. Both capital and revenue projects meeting the application criteria will be considered. Grants of between £2,000 and £50,000 are being awarded to a maximum of 50% of the total eligible project costs and will be free of any fees.

The funding is being made available through the business rates pilot scheme and is brought to the market by a partnership with Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire District Councils.

Derby City Council cabinet member for regeneration and public protection, Councillor Matthew Holmes said: “We are delighted be able to offer this new fund to businesses in Derbyshire. We are confident that alongside our other funding schemes, DBSGS will open up new opportunities for business growth and job creation.”

DBSGS is being managed by the Derby City Council team, who are also responsible for delivering the Derby Enterprise Growth Fund, and its Derbyshire wide partner D2EGF.

Successful bids will demonstrate that the grant intervention outcomes will include turnover growth, increased profitability, increased productivity, new contracts awarded, job creation and diversification into new markets.
