Supermarket giant aims to create 84 jobs on former swimming pool site

How the scheme would look

Some 84 jobs could be created on the site of a former swimming baths in Nottingham, it has emerged.

Supermarket giant Lidl wants to create a retail and leisure scheme on the site, which will include a 33,000 sq ft Lidl foodstore, retail units and drive-thru on Beechdale Road, Nottingham.

The new development would be on the site of the now demolished Beechdale baths.

A planning statement seen by TheBusinessDesk.com says: “The design and layout of the proposal has been developed to function well for the required use and adds to the overall quality of the area. The position and orientation of the building, the vehicular and pedestrian links and the proposed landscaping have been designed to create an attractive environment.

“The development has been designed to be legible and safe. The treatment of the perimeter of the site has been developed so not to encourage crime. The layout, building and landscaping has been designed not to provide any hidden areas, dead ends or areas that do not benefit from natural surveillance and therefore could encourage anti-social behaviour.”
