Marketing Derby hires creative agency for video work

Purpose Media head of video John Starkie shoots a scene from the Derby Day Out film

Creative agency Purpose Media has been appointed to provide a year’s worth of video marketing support to inward investment and place promotion organisation Marketing Derby.

The Derbyshire firm will work with Marketing Derby to create promotional films aimed at showcasing Derby and Derbyshire to potential investors and businesses, and also highlighting the work it does to promote the city and county.

It’s the second time that Purpose Media has provided video support to Marketing Derby, having previously created the organisation’s Derby Day Out film, in 2017, which is used to promote the city. The film was launched in the national media last summer and was given a starring role within Team Derby’s presence at the international property convention, MIPIM, in Cannes, earlier this year.

Katrina Starkie, marketing director at Purpose Media, said: “As a local company – and a long-standing Marketing Derby Bondholder – we’re delighted to be working on this project together. We are fiercely proud of our roots and we’re always up for doing anything we can to help put Derby on the map.

“Marketing performs better when it works together and the key to the success of this project will be working collaboratively with the team at Marketing Derby to lend our creative expertise and technical know-how to this exciting initiative, to ensure we can achieve more, together.”

John Forkin, managing director at Marketing Derby, added: “fDi Intelligence, a service from the Financial Times, has just recognised Marketing Derby as having the best digital strategy of any global investment promotion agency.

“During 2019 Marketing Derby plans to step up our activity and in this context, we are working with Purpose Media to enhance our digital offering.

“These films will be key tools for us to promote the city and county as a great place to invest as well as to live, work and visit.”
