Forest legend set to become new manager

Martin O'Neill set to be next in the Forest hotseat

Martin O’Neill, who won two European Cups under Brian Clough, is set to become the next manager of Nottingham Forest, according to multiple reports.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been locked in talks with O’Neill in London and Birmingham over the weekend and Monday. O’Neill hopes to bring fellow Forest favourite Roy Keane with him as his assistant.

Forest have been persuing O’Neill for the last 25 years. They first wanted to give him the job when Clough resigned in 1993, but he has always proved elusive.

O’Neill has been out of job since he left the Republic of Ireland job last November after failure to qualify for the latter stages of the European Nations League competition.

O’Neill will succeed Aitor Karanka who left the club last week.
