Snow and fog close A57

The A57 Snake Pass road is closed this morning in both directions between A6013 (Ladybower Reservoir) and Hurst Road (Royal Oak Inn, Glossop) because of snow and fog.

Derbyshire Police are asking motorists not to attempt to travel on the road.

A tweet by the force said: “The A57 is *STILL CLOSED*. Motorists are ignoring the big flashing red “road closed” signs, and getting stuck in the snow. Police have not got the resources to keep coming and bailing motorists out who are ignoring these signs. The road is closed for a reason.

“Please find alternative routes, several vehicles have been abandoned and it’s very dangerous.”
