intu strikes deal to keep Nottingham’s House of Fraser open

Nottingham’s House of Fraser store has been saved from the axe, saving scores of jobs.

The outlet, in the intu Victoria, has previously slated to close along with others in Lakeside, Norwich and Gateshead, but House of Fraser owner Sports Direct says it has reached an agreement with intu to keep the store open.

Mike Murray, head of elevation at Sports Direct, said: “After the stalled talks with intu we are happy to announce that we have come to an agreement that will help secure the future of House of Fraser intu stores in Norwich, Metro Centre, Lakeside and Nottingham.”

Earlier this week reports were circulating that Mike Ashley, owner of Sports Direct, was set to make a bid to rescue stricken entertainment retailer HMV from administation.
