Woman charged with railway station fire

A 34-year-old woman, who was arrested in connection to the Nottingham railway station fire, has been charged.

Gemma Peat, of Wilford Crescent, Nottingham, was re-arrested in Derby and interviewed in relation to the fire on 12 January last year. She was first arrested in February 2018.

A statement from British Transport Police said: “After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Peat was charged with one count of Arson with Intent or Being Reckless to Endanger Life. She has been remanded to custody to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 26 February.”

Fire crews were called to a fire in the ladies toilet at the station at around 6.25am on 12 January 2018 and around 50 firefighters dealt with the blaze.
