New chief executive at Leicestershire CCC

Departing CEO Karen Rothery was "instrumental in re-shaping the foundations" of the Club

Leicestershire County Cricket Club has appointed Karen Rothery as its new chief executive..

Rothery has been chief executive at both British Universities College Sports (BUCS) and Surrey Sports Park (SSP) at The University of Surrey.

She grew up in Enderby, being educated at Lutterworth Upper School and later at Loughborough University, where she gained a Masters in Sport and Leisure Management.

Rothery said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Leicestershire County Cricket Club and I’m looking forward to working with the staff and Board at Grace Road, as well as meeting the members and fans.”

Leicestershire CCC chairman Paul Haywood said: “We are extremely pleased that Karen has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer at the club.

“Karen was the outstanding applicant with proven leadership and experience in the key areas of commercial, community and sport, which is what the club require at the present time. Karen has overseen large commercial operations and has had an important role in developing community relations in a number of different sports.”

Rothery will join Leicestershire CCC in late April, with Roy Bent serving as the club’s interim chief executive until then.
