Plans to demolish buildings in Nottingham’s Southern Gateway approved

How Crocus Place, next to the site, could look

At last year’s MIPIM event in Cannes, council chiefs told TheBusinessDesk.com that it was “exploring the potential” for pre-lets for a proposed 100,000 sq ft Grade A office development opposite Unity Square, which is set to be the new home of the regional HMRC hub.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com at MIPIM in Cannes, the Council’s corporate director of development and deputy chief executive David Bishop said that the development of Crocus Place was dependent on HMRC’s decision on its plans for regional hubs – with Nottingham hopeful to be a base.

“We’re confident that HMRC will reveal its plans within a couple of months,” said Bishop, “and that will ensure a number of dominoes fall.

In November, HMRC announced it had entered into a 25-year pre-let on the development for its Nottingham Regional Centre with Peveril Securities and its joint venture partner Sladen Estates. It is set to open in summer 2021 and Phase 1 will accommodate around 4,000 full-time equivalent employees.
