Ashley clinches deal for sofa.com
The boss of Shirebrook-based Sports Direct, Mike Ashley, has reportedly beaten off competition to buy furniture retailer sofa.com.
Sky News says that Ashley has won the race to buy the firm, which was put up for sale in December., after ScS pulled out.
Ashley wanted to clinch the deal because sofa.com has concessions in a number of House of Fraser stores, which he owns.
Sports Direct bought House of Fraser out of administration last summer. Earlier this month he won a battle with landlord intu and announced the Nottingham store would be staying open, despite it being slated to close.
