Nottingham logistics firm Europa Worldwide Group has swooped to buy Menzies Response.

Europa would not disclose the value of the deal.

Menzies Response has over 80,000 sq ft of warehouse space and is based on Express Park in Rushden. Europa has bought it from Menzies Distribution. Previously known as Orbital Response, the business was acquired by Menzies Distribution in 2012 and re-branded in 2018.

The Rushden business will become part of the Europa Warehouse division – which already operates a warehouse at Grange Park in Northants plus others in Dartford and Minworth near Birmingham.

The business will continue as normal and Europa Warehouse will take over the existing customer base and 45 staff.

Europa’s managing director, Andrew Baxter, said: “The acquisition is a great start to the year for Europa, further adding to our growing portfolio. The Menzies’ assets are a perfect fit with Europa Warehouse and our aim is to strengthen, develop and grow the business.”

Alongside the warehouse, Europa has also Menzies’ contact centre based in Ashford, Kent, which will be re-branded as Europa Contact Centre.

Baxter added: “Our prior experience makes us well placed to deal with the subtle process of integrating new businesses into our Group and I look forward to welcoming Menzies Response’ staff to our team.”

Europa Warehouse Director, Maria Torrent-March, said: “We are confident that now is the right time to expand and we know we have the right skills and ability to grow the Menzies Response business.”

Europa employs 800 staff and turned over £180m last year.
