Over 60 jobs lost at Leicester electrical firm

Over 60 jobs have been lost at a Leicester electrical contractor.

John Lowe and Nathan Jones at FRP Advisory were appointed joint administrators of East Midlands Electrical Installations Limited on 8th February 2019.

East Midlands Electrical Installations, which trades as EME Installations, provided electrical and mechanical engineering solutions to the contracting industry.

The Company had suffered severe cashflow pressures in recent months, say administrators and this led it to enter administration. The business ceased to trade on 8th February and 62 employees were made redundant.

Following their appointment, the joint administrators are now marketing the business’ assets, including its fleet of vehicles, for sale. Two employees have been retained to support with the orderly wind down of the business.

John Lowe, partner at FRP Advisory in Leicester, said: “EME Installations had established itself as a leading player within the construction sector, supplying turnkey electrical and mechanical engineering solutions to both new build and refurbishment projects. Unfortunately, the business had suffered severe cashflow pressures as a result of contract disputes and in the absence of new investment it was forced to enter administration and cease trading with immediate effect.

“We are now providing support to the affected employees and are working closely with the Redundancy Payments Service to ensure the best possible outcome in this difficult period. In the meantime, we would urge any parties interested in acquiring the assets to contact us as soon as possible.”
