Sale of Notts County takes a step closer

The sale of Notts County has taken a major step forward after chairman and owner Alan Hardy said he was received two formal offers for the Club.

The Magpies, who remain in grave danger of being relegated from the Football League, were put up for sale by Hardy in January. Last week, HMRC issued a winding up petition over £200,000 worth of unpaid tax.

However, Hardy says he is now on the verge of offloading County.

In a statement he said: “I have now received two formal offers for the purchase of Notts County Football Club which meet my expectations.

“I will now be meeting both parties in the coming days to understand their future vision and plans for the club before inviting one of them to enter into an exclusivity period in order to undertake due diligence and completion of the sale.

“Further updates will follow in due course and in line with standard confidentiality protocol.”

Hardy’s fit-out business, Paragon Interiors, remains in administration, but he has insisted that will not affect Notts County.

At the weekend, the Magpies drew 0-0 with relegation rivals Port Vale and remain five points from safety in League Two.
