Nottingham restaurant faces closure as owner seeks CVA

A Nottingham restaurant could close after its owner revealed plans to close a third of its venues.

Ed’s Easy Diner, which is located in the intu Victoria Centre could shut its doors after the Boparan Restaurant Group said it would close 27 of its 87 Ed’s Easy Diner and Giraffe restaurants.

The Boparan Restaurant Group is now seeking a comany voluntary arrangement (CVA).

Tom Crowley, chief executive of BRG, said: “We have been examining options for the two brands for some time and the CVA is the only option to protect the company.

“The combination of increasing costs and over-supply of restaurants in the sector and a softening of consumer demand have all contributed to the challenges both these brands face.”

If the Nottingham restaurant closed, it would be a blow for intu which is trying to relaunch its Clocktower dining concept in the Victoria Centre.

Boparan bought Ed’s Easy Diner in a pre-pack deal in 2016 which saw the Leicester and Derby venues close.
