Rail services disrupted after person hit by train

Train services are disrupted in the East Midlands this morning after a person was hit by a train in Leicestershire.

East Midlands Trains routes on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield and Leicester/Lincoln are affected.

At present Network Rail are on site and British Transport Police have been contacted.

A statement from East Midlands Trains said: “All of our trains on the route cannot run in either direction between Leicester and Loughborough.

“At present we are expecting the line to fully reopen in the next two hours. Our normal train service is expected to resume on the affected routes at around 11am.

“We are currently arranging alternative transport to keep you on the move.”
