Weekender: Splendour Festival organisers busy ‘making festival work for Nottingham’

The person responsible for booking the acts at the annual Splendour Festival in Nottingham says his company hasn’t ruled out extending the reach of the event around the country.

Anton Lockwood, director of promotions at DHP Family, told TheBusinessDesk.com that despite Splendour having a truly Nottingham feel, running a similar event in another city could be possible.

He said: “It’s not something we’ve particularly talked about at length, but never say never! If someone approached us with a sustainable deal, we’d have a conversation. But, for now, we’re fully committed to making sure Splendour is working for Nottingham.”

Lockwood said that the booking of the bands Nottingham City Council-funded event is left completely down to DHP, who take control of who is playing and when.

Manic Street Preachers and The Specials will headline this year’s Splendour festival in Nottingham, on Saturday 20 July 2019, while last week Rag’n’Bone Man and All Saints were unveiled.

More acts will be announced in coming weeks.
