Council leader announces pre-let on 100,000 sq ft office scheme

A new 100,000 sq ft Grade A office development in Nottingham’s Southside has been pre-let to an unnamed occupier, TheBusinessDesk.com can reveal.

Speaking to us at international property show MIPIM, the leader of Nottingham City Council, Jon Collins, said that the Crocus Place scheme, in the city’s Southern Gateway area, is in response to Nottingham losing several inward investment opportunities over the last few years.

Collins said: “We know that we need Grade A office space in the city. We’ve seen this through investors going elsewhere because we simply didn’t have the quality of office space for them in Nottingham, but developers want pre-lets and that’s not always simple.

“We have a pre-let on Crocus Place and that will help us bring the scheme forward.”

Collins also said that Henry Boot had signed an exclusivity deal on the Cental Library site on Angel Row before Christmas, and the cash from this as being used to fund the new library in the forthcoming Broadmarsh bus station and car park development.

Collins added: “Our focus for now is on the south of the city. It’s all happening in that area, and we have to be focused as it needs to be managed properly.

“We also want to push forward with Broadmarsh West and we have interest from 5-star hotel operators for that part of the city. It’s going to be a great opportunity to expand the southside of Nottingham.
