Speakers revealed for East Midlands Business Masters Awards 2019

TheBusinessDesk.com has confirmed two high-profile speakers for its East Midlands Business Masters Awards, to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the evening of April 4.

Kate Tinsley, chief executive officer of the Buildbase group of companies; non-executive director of the FA and ambassador for #yesshecan will share her story, alongside Maria Machancoses, director of Midlands Connect, the organisation which explores, develops and recommends transport projects which will provide the biggest possible economic and social benefits for the Midlands and the rest of the UK.

Kate was born and bred in the East Midlands, living her entire life in Nottingham apart from her three university years in Sheffield. She studied Economics at the University of Sheffield and then went on to work for both PwC and Deloitte to train as an accountant.

After leaving practice in 2003 she worked in various senior finance and operational roles in the construction sector, with the last four-and-a-half years spent in general management roles.

She is an U10 grassroots football coach, an avid Notts County fan and latterly a “wannabe” good golfer.

Maria Machancoses

Maria is director of sub-national Transport Body Midlands Connect. Her team, researches, develops and recommends strategic road, rail and technology investments that will facilitate economic growth in the region and beyond.

Having provided evidence to the Government’s Transport Select Committee on rail funding and a frequent regional presence in Westminster, Maria unites the voices of the Midlands’ Local Enterprise Partnerships, Councils and business community to improve connectivity across the Midlands Engine area.

She currently sits on the East Midlands Development Corporation Oversight Board, a new body being launched to push through development opportunities and transport links across the region – in particular around East Midlands Airport, the SEGRO Logistics Park at nearby Castle Donnington, Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, the planned HS2 station at Toton, and Chetwynd Barracks in Nottingham.
