Landmark hire for Dragons’ Den entrepreneur

Phil White and Ed Hollands

Derby-based Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Edward Hollands has taken on his first member of staff – national sales director Phil White.

White joined DrivenMedia after contacting Hollands via networking site Linkedin after becoming interested in DrivenMedia’s model.

White has a background in engineering and, following a career change, has spent the last ten years working in advertising across a range of media platforms, including print, radio and online.

He said: “I spotted a post from Ed on Linkedin about truck advertising with DrivenMedia. It caught my eye and I knew with my contacts and experience I could make it a success. We got speaking, decided to meet up and the rest is history.

“I now head up the sales for DrivenMedia across the country and Ed’s become a very good friend. We have a great client base which is growing and we look after each and every one personally which is delivering the successful results our clients want.”

Hollands set up DrivenMedia in 2015 in Derby, where he attended university, gaining a first in business studies. He works with hauliers to using the advertising ‘space’ on the sides of trucks and lorries to market products, services and business messages across the UK road network. Advertisers commit to a campaign which is fully trackable via GPS.

In February 2018, Ed appeared on Dragons’ Den and secured £30,000 in funding from Jenny Campbell, known as the Cashpoint Queen. He was back on our screens on December 30 last year, when he appeared on Dragons’ Den: Pitches To Riches? which caught up with what entrepreneurs had been up to following their appearance on the show. DrivenMedia has just launched its 60thbranded truck.

White said: “I was attracted to DrivenMedia because I like ‘different’ and I like a challenge. Working in media sales you start to notice that in the advertising world it’s very hard to stand out. DrivenMedia is different – I realised our advertising landscape was untouched. We stand out to millions of real people every day – you can’t miss a 15m long, 3m high beast driving along!”

Hollands said “DrivenMedia as gone from strength to strength recently, Phil joining the team is just the start of our growth plan. Recently We’ve seen a number of returning and new customers join us including Moose Juice, Hippo Products and Equitsme. I look forward to growing the team further.”
