Funding deal brings expansion for storage firm

Worksop Self Storage has expanded its presence in Worksop after landing a funding deal from Barclays.

The new site in Worksop is at Shire Oaks Triangle Business Park from where the business provides automated self-store for general public and businesses.

Managing Director Ross Stewart, who has worked in the storage and distribution industry for over 19 years, spotted the opportunity to launch Selby Self Store at Selby Business Park in 2014 and expanded with a further site in Scunthorpe in 2015.

He said: “We’ve seen fantastic take up at the new business in Selby and Scunthorpe and so I decided to launch a third site in Worksop. It occurred to me that we didn’t have any storage facilities locally and the Shire Oaks Triangle Business Park seemed a great location to launch the third site. Barclays provided an innovative and flexible funding package for me to expand and the unit provides high end modern self-store facilities that people locally are finding invaluable.”

The new unit has created two new jobs and turnover for the three sites should exceed £1.5m next year.

Paul Craske, relationship director at Barclays arranged the funding and said: “Ross is a longstanding and valuable customer and so when he decided to launch the third site we were delighted to provide the funding. It’s great to see a fast growing local business taking advantage of low interest rates and investing for the future, creating jobs and contributing to the local economy.”
