On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Property consultancy Harris Lamb has enhanced its Environmental team with the appointment of a senior bat ecologist.

Helen Archer joins the business from JBA Consulting. She adds her bat expertise to the seven-strong team’s skillset.

Dr Holly Smith, who was appointed to head up and establish the ecology team in February 2018, said: “Our department has grown rapidly over the past year, and we are delighted to welcome Helen to our team. There are very few bat specialists operating in the UK so it is a real coup for us to have added one to our ranks.

“Helen has a wealth of experience in coordinating and delivering bat surveys and mitigation for a wide range of complex development projects across the UK.

“With the key time for bat activity surveys being May to August, she has joined us at a crucial time, and is a huge asset to the business. We’re looking forward to supporting out clients in the coming months.”

Archer said: “Having a background in delivering ecological services for commercial developers, including numerous Tesco developments, I was attracted to the opportunity of having greater continued involvement with the ecological challenges facing the commercial development sector, particularly those concerning bats.

“I am keen to apply my expertise in bat ecology at Harris Lamb to help facilitate surveying and licensing, and provide support across a diverse range of projects.”

James Baker

James Baker has joined Loughborough-based chartered surveyor Edward Cooper Young.

Baker joins the firm in a senior management role. He has over 10 years’ experience and will head up the firm’s Employer’s Agent delivery team as a senior associate.

Senior partner Ashley Cooper said: “James is someone we identified well over two years ago we wanted within our team. His experience, expertise as well as profile within our own professional body, makes him the perfect fit to help us achieve our longer term business goals.”
