New chief executive for Newark charity

Nikki Burley

Newark Emmaus Trust, a charity which supports and houses local and vulnerable young homeless in Newark, has appointed Nikki Burley as its new chief exectuive.

Before joining Newark Emmaus Trust, Burley worked in banking for 23 years and then in the charity sector for 10 years, mostly at the National Justice Museum in Nottingham.

She has a first class honours degree in business and finance and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Banking. At the National Justice Museum she started as head of museum and was appointed executive director in 2014 and interim chief operating officer in 2017.

She project managed the Heritage Lottery Funded programme which included the museum refurbishment and engaging communities programme. Burley also founded the Unique Connections business networking group and raised more than £100,000 for the Help a Nottinghamshire Child campaign, helping young people to stay away from crime and out of prison.

Burley’s most recent role was as  chief executive of Notts County FC Football in The Community

Burley said: “I am delighted to be appointed chief executive. I am looking forward to working with the team at Newark Emmaus Trust and building on existing relationships. I am planning to develop new partnerships in the Newark community, as well as continuing to work with those that I bring with me from my work in the city.”
