Luxury burger bar changes hands

Vanessa Jones and Martyn Daykin

The HIDE burger bar in Connect Derby’s Riverside Chambers on Full Street has new owners.

Mother and daughter duo Sarah and Olivia Pritchard have sold their business to Martyn Daykin and his partner Vanessa Jones, who will continue to run the business under the HIDE brand.

HIDE was established by the Pritchards in 2014 after running the successful Bean Caffe at Connect Derby’s Friar Gate Studios.

The new takeaway menu offers a selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, alongside homemade soup and salads. Vegan and gluten free options are also available.

HIDE will also be one of only a handful of outlets throughout the area to stock authentic Italian bread sourced from Martyn’s former neighbour and friend Fabrizzio, who runs the exclusive A & R Secchi Bakery in Nottingham.

Opening hours have been extended to give customers better flexibility and Martyn and Vanessa also have plans to launch a live Jazz Brunch.

Daykin said: “Vanessa and I are really excited to be running HIDE. We are both passionate about food and have always dreamed of running our own restaurant.
“The opportunity to take over such a popular venue as HIDE was too good to miss and we’re looking forward to developing the food offer further in the coming months.

“We really liked what Sarah and Olivia had created at HIDE, so we wanted to keep the core menu the same, whilst introducing some fresh new ideas such as our artisan Italian bread from Secchi Bakery.

“The restaurant’s original head chef has also returned, so we can continue serving up the tasty, Derbyshire beef burgers that customers love. We have high hopes for our new takeaway menu too, which we’ve kept simple with fresh ingredients and classic flavours.”
