Engineering firm swoops for Italian manufacturer

Retford-based Langley Holdings has bought Marelli Motori, the Italian electric motor and generator manufacturer from The Carlyle Group.

The deal, which included the full repayment of Marelli’s bank debt of €55m by engineering and industrial group Langley, was completed in Milan for an undisclosed amount.

Marelli Motori manufacturer of electric motors and generators. The company, which was established in 1891, employs around 900 people at major manufacturing facilities in Italy and Malaysia, with subsidiaries in the United States, Germany, the UK and South Africa.

Corporate partner at Gateley David Armitage advised on the deal. He was supported by solicitor Rebecca Bennett and trainee solicitor Elizabeth Russell with input from Gateley’s Banking team. Assistance was also provided by Italian lawyers, R&P Legal, which was led by Mario Ferrari and supported by Antonio Faruzzi and Pierluigi Tusino.
