Plans revealed to turn retail units into offices

Maber's new offices in Silver Arcade

A former hub for independent retailers is set to be turned into office space, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.

Lukegate, the owner of the Victorian-era Grade II listed Silver Arcade in the city centre, wants to turn the first and second floor of the building into offices.

The moves comes weeks after TheBusinessDesk.com revealed that Maber Architects had moved its Leicester office to the third floor of Silver Arcade, in what it called a “sensitive” full refurbishment.

Now, the architect could have new business neighbours.

Silver Arcade was built in 1889 by local architect Amos Hall and opened housing shops, offices and showrooms. Further details on the size of the new units in the building are yet to be published.
