Time is right for creative agency to target local life sciences sector

A Nottingham-based creative agency says that the city’s burgeoning healthcare and life sciences sector has the opportunity to bring million of pounds worth of work to the region.

Spinning Clock, which already works for huge multinational companies operating in the healthcare sector including Allocate Software and Thermo Fisher Scientific, now wants to use its expertise to help local companies in the East Midlands to promote their products and services better.

Spinning Clock was set up 16 years ago in Nottingham by co-founder David Lister, who now runs the business on a day-to-day basis. Today, the company specialises in interactive media, video, animation, events and software marketing for clients including the Walt Disney Company, CBBC and the Discovery Channel.

However, Lister is now keen to push deeper into the biotech and life sciences sectors.

He said: “We source nearly all of work from outside London, and over the years we’ve proved that you don’t need to be in the capital to win millions of pounds worth of work.

“We believe the experience and skills we’ve built up over the last 16 years could be extremely beneficial to the companies who work from BioCity, for example,” said Lister.

“We’ve managed to secure contracts with some of the biggest companies in the Life Science sphere and we’re looking to tap into Nottingham businesses to see how we can work together. We think we’ve punched well above our weight to secure contracts with multinationals such as ‘Agilent Technologies, Beckman Coulter and Thermo Fisher Scientific, and we’ve learned a lot. We’d now like to pass that on.”

Spinning Clock operates from multi-floored offices in Lace Market in Nottingham which it recently purchased demonstrating its commitment to staying in the midlands. With a growing team Lister says he thinks the company now has some of the best talent there is.

He added: “We’ve taken and nurtured some of the most skilled staff in the region, and we have ambitions to continue to grow the company organically.

“We’ve also made some amazing relationships throughout the world, and we’d like to transfer some of the expertise to local companies. There’s real potential in the East Midlands healthcare and lifesciences sector, and we want to be a part of it.”
