Law firm swaps suits for mountain boots

Team Else

Local lawyers at Else Solicitors are swapping suits for walking boots as they embark on the National Three Peaks Challenge in July.

The team at Else are attempting to complete the Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon trek within 24 hours in order to raise some money for local charity – Star Foundation. The challenge is dubbed the ‘most iconic and testing team challenge activity in the UK’. With a total walking distance of 23 miles, ascent of 3064 metres and a combined driving distance of 462 miles, it’s not difficult to see why.

The sponsorship raised will be used by the Star Foundation to continue their work with local schools and clubs to purchase sports, art and music equipment improving the lives of youngsters within the Burton community. The charity also helps other local community projects to provide support for young people and assists them in realising their potential.

Andy Rudkin, partner, head of dispute resolution at Else Solicitors and Trustee at Star Foundation, said: “National Three Peaks Challenge is a massive task to complete within 24 hours, but as an active group of people, we are confident we can give it our best shot. The charity does some incredible work with local youngsters to help them achieve their goals, so it feels a fitting way to raise some cash to support them and their dreams.

“We are looking to raise a minimum of £1,500. As a team we have been fundraising for the past few months and are set to host a charity BBQ at the Bridge Inn, Branston on the 21st June. All ticket fees will go straight into the fundraising pot and should give us a boost towards our target.”

Pete Tryner, founder at Star Foundation, added: “The charity relies on the local community rallying together to support us with our projects. We also have a furniture shop on Derby Road which generates an income from donated unwanted items. In addition, we also have a recycling scheme with local schools where the kids are encouraged to recycle waste which we can dispose of appropriately and generate additional income for the charity.

“The funds raised through this challenge will be used to provide a mini bus to transport young people from schools to our new academy where they will receive free martial arts, fitness and music sessions through Star.”

If you would like to help the team at Else to reach their fundraising target – please donate via just giving. All donations are gratefully received. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/starfoundation3peaks
