Nottingham digital agency Distinction is celebrating after winning an international award for Best Consumer Goods Website for a major publishing house.

The award was announced at the Kentico Site of the Year awards and is for their work with Pan Macmillan Publishers on their website www.panmacmillan.com which is known for a host of children’s favourites such as ‘The Gruffalo’ and the classic ‘Dear Zoo’.

The Kentico Site of the Year awards run annually, with over 1,000 digital agency partners from 80 countries submitting entries. This is the fourth Kentico Site of the Year award Distinction has won since the awards started in 2010.

Henry France, marketing manager at Distinction, said: “Pan Macmillan hired Distinction in 2014 as part of a long-term partnership. Since then, we have worked on campaigns for The Gruffalo, Dear Zoo, MyKindaBook and Picador in addition to numerous authors including Julia Donaldson, David Baldacci, Joe Wicks and The Secret Barrister.”

In addition to helping to strengthen their brand and user interactions, judges were impressed by the new site’s performance, which now pulls in book data 97% faster. Adding genre and author pages has also aided navigation, leading to more conversions, and the EMS functionality has enabled closer communications with valued customers.

France added: “The project touched every part of our team – strategy, design, development, marketing, and account and project management – with lots of client collaboration. For us, winning is truly a team effort, all of whom have worked incredibly hard on not only this website in particular but in creating a fantastic working relationship with our client, Pan Macmillan.”
