Former lace mill to be converted into apartments

FHP Property Consultants has brokered a deal to sell Studio House to Hockley Developments.

The property in New Basford has, up until recently, been used as a multi-occupied commercial building. Now, Hockley Developments will redevelop the Victorian former lace mill and has planning approved for residential conversion into 31 apartments.

Alan Forsyth, of Hockley Developments, said: “After several months of planning, we are delighted to finally get started on this development – one of several we have completed in the Nottingham area recently.

“With its traditional original features, such as exposed brick walls and beams, high ceilings and large windows, combined with a modern fibre internet connection, new gas central heating and double glazed windows, the building will be an exciting place to live for both young professionals and families alike. In addition, the views from the apartments on the higher floors are breath-taking, some as far as East Midlands Airport.

“With Help to Buy available, and a 10 year new build warranty – we are expecting strong demand and have already taken reservations on several apartments. We of course could not have done this deal, without the assistance of Thomas Szymkiw of FHP, who worked tirelessly on the transaction throughout the last 12 months.”

Szymkiw said: “I am delighted to have completed on the sale on behalf of retained clients – a deal that took both effort and patience on both parties behalf. The property was unfortunately no longer viable for commercial purposes and I am pleased that it will now provide much needed residential accommodation for local people.

“I very much look forward to seeing the renovation work progress and working together with Alan and Hockley Developments again in the future.”
